Others showcase devices with new folding styles, rollable devices that can be wrapped around the wrist and many more.
The Chinese company, Honor, has come up with its concept of a Robot Phone, and like all concept phones, it has garnered attention in the saturated market of smartphones. The company showed the new concept in a YouTube video. With those big, pop-out camera eyes, it looks like a miniature Wall-E.
The Robot Phone is described as a revolutionary AI device that fuses multi-modal intelligence, advanced robotics, and next-generation imaging.
A concept with the potential of becoming a reality
The video starts by showing a regular modern smartphone with a huge screen, thin bezels and a thick rear camera layout. Nothing spectacular, but on closer inspection it doesn’t seem so ordinary anymore. The video progresses to the rear camera springing out, like an eye that rotates.
The rear camera is attached to an autonomous arm that allows it to rotate. It springs up above the device’s top lip and is able to shoot photos and videos regardless of the phone’s position. The highlight of Honor’s announcement video was the concept device face down, with the rear camera popping up and turning in different directions.
From the video, we can see that the device has an intelligent mechanical camera. Integrated with AI, the robot phone can frame shots on its own and capture moments to relive later. The video concludes with a caption saying: “See you in Barcelona 2026.”
