Google has announced updates to its One App meaning that automatic phone backups are now available at no extra cost for users with a Google account. Google One launched in 2018 as a cloud storage subscription service for Google services (Mail, Drive e.t.c).
Since its launch, it has expanded to include access to experts for help with Google products, Store deals, and a feature that lets you share storage with five other family members. Now, the new update makes sure that phone backups(up to 15GB) are now free and do not need any sort of subscription to activate.
Automatic Android backups were introduced for this app last year, with this backup service now expected on iOS devices soon. This means that users would be able to store photos, videos, contacts, and calendar events with the 15GB available space provided by a Google account. For those who may require more than 15GB, they can upgrade to a 100GB subscription for $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year.
The tech company will also introduce a new storage manager that works on the web and in the app. This will help you keep an eye on your storage and know when to free up space at any point in time. The One App is expected to get the updates in the coming days on Android, but iOS users may need to wait a while longer for the One app to appear in the Apple App store.
