We’ve all heard of the Airplane Mode before. We commonly activate it when we want our iPhones and iPads to charge faster. But what exactly does it do, and how does it work its magic? Today we learn the real purpose of the Airplane Mode.
The reason it is called Airplane Mode is that the use of mobile devices and other gadgets that transmit signals are prohibited inside commercial aircraft. We don’t want our phones to interfere with the airplane’s sensors, because this could cause issues within the navigation equipment.
Airplane Mode disables your device’s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and cellular radio, thereby making it suitable for use during flight. Many people would agree that it’s a small price to pay for a safe journey.
Still, you can use Airplane Mode any time you like – even when you are not flying. As we mentioned, it could help you charge your battery faster. That’s because your iPhone stops searching for Wi-Fi signals and incoming text messages, allowing it to “focus” on charging.
Once your phone is fully charged, you can continue taking advantage of the Airplane Mode to conserve your phone’s juice. You can use this during emergency situations wherein there’s no power outlet or charging station in sight, and you need to make use of your phone for a bit longer. Airplane Mode strips away most of the device’s telephony functions, allowing it to save energy.
The obvious drawback is that you can’t receive or send text messages, nor can you access the Internet. But sometimes, you want to avoid outside contact altogether, and that’s where the last purpose of the Airplane Mode comes in: it helps you focus on your tasks by eliminating distractions. Sometimes you don’t want to get those annoying calls and texts. You can use the Airplane Mode to give yourself some peace.
So to conclude, this option serves a great purpose, and its usefulness goes beyond keeping your plane moving in the right direction. In many ways, it can be a real lifesaver.

Fire Emblem Heroes is the first Nintendo game for smartphones. Or at least, it is the first that was designed specifically for Android smartphones. Therefore, it is understandable that Nintendo spent a lot of time and money hyping the mobile game. However, does the game hold its own against other established mobile games?
Fire Emblem Heroes is a free-to-play tactical role-playing game. It is a spin-off of the Fire Emblem series, and it was released in February this year. Within the game, each player gets four characters, with distinct characteristics and abilities. Each hero’s world is connected through portals, which the main antagonist uses to enslave them. The objective of the game is to rescue these heroes from the antagonist.

Players are able to summon characters from the Fire Emblem series to battle opposing players, beginning on an 8×6 grid map. It’s basically a glorified game of rock-paper-scissors, combined with chess. This is because in a fight, each weapon is weaker than the next, and stronger than the third weapon. Sword beats axe, axe beats lance, lance beats sword. Also, you have to move from one square on the grid to the next by carefully planning your moves.
If you like tactical games, or anime -styled games, you’ll like Fire Emblem Heroes. It follows along with the good things about the Fire Emblem series, but this is adapted for mobile gaming. However, like almost all free games nowadays, there are levels you can’t pass without making some in-app purchases. This is becoming increasingly frustrating to a lot of people. However, if you don’t mind repeating the same level over and over again to gain orbs, then you can do that and progress to the next levels. And yes, this game does hold its own against some other established mobile games.
