On October 15, the Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 update began to roll out to Pixel devices. Shortly later, there were reports from Pixel users of their devices stuck in a bootloop. Some Reddit users who were able to bypass the issue shared useful tips. This made Google pull the Android 16 Beta 3 OTA less than 24 hours after launch.

Google Pixel 10 - 1

On October 20, the company released an OTA patch for devices affected by the bootloop issue during the Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 test. Google will roll out the OTA patch in two versions for Pixels according to a post on Reddit. The Pixel 6 lineup — Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a — will see vBP41.250916.010, while the other eligible Pixels will see vBP41.250916.010.A1.

Users who didn’t download Beta 3 at all because of the bootloop issue can try out Beta 3.1 after enrolling on the website. Google offers new solutions for Pixels that were affected by the bootloop. Google suggested that affected users should first wait and see if their Pixels recover to Beta 2 after the booting malfunction. If it doesn’t, Google offers USB debugging as a solution, but that’s only for devices that had the feature enabled before the issue occurred.

There is also the option of downloading the Beta 3.1 OTA from Android’s Developer site, then putting the phone in Recovery mode to install the update. The company outlines clear steps to fix the bootlooping issue caused by the QPR2 Beta 3, including what to do if every means to fix the issue without clearing your data doesn’t work.

Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3.1 features

The beta test was for enrolled users to try out the new features before rolling out to all eligible devices. There is a new add icon (+) that allows users to pin an app’s shortcut. New features include Live Captions shortcuts for volume and larger icons for the search bar.

The Android 16 QPR2 Beta 3 patch brings a lot of useful changes to Pixel devices. The company shared the changelog on their website. Even though the Beta 3 didn’t end well, the Beta 3.1 promises to correct the shortcomings of the previous OTA and deliver the intended features to Pixels.

Ever since the news of Samsung’s first foldable started circulating early this year, we have been awaiting the official announcement of the TriFold. New leaks suggest that time might actually be near.

According to Bloomberg, it received news that the foldable might make its first public appearance at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit (APEC) held in South Korea. This is between October 31 and November 1.

Samsung TriFold - 2

The report suggests that the TriFold will be displayed under glass like an exhibit, keeping the attendees of the APEC 2025 summit from having any physical contact with the device. Even if the rumour of the Samsung TriFold being unveiled at APEC 2025 is accurate, buyers still have to wait for it to become available for sale in market.

There have been other rumours regarding the launch date of the foldable, one of which was at the end of September. This is October already, still nothing, but one thing is for sure — it will be out before the year ends, at least according to Samsung.

According to reports, it is unlikely for the TriFold to go on sale at the time it is unveiled because of availability issues.

For the design, the TriFold will pack three different batteries and run on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. It will also include an inward-folding style. For a device that uses three batteries, it’s definitely going to be on the high side. Costing almost four times the price of the Galaxy S25, the TriFold starts at a price of $3,000 (about £2,235).
