Carbon 1 Mark II is a unique creature in the world of smartphones. It is the world’s first mobile made from carbon fiber. As a result, it is super thin and light. In order to achieve its thinness, only a 0.4mm layer of Gorilla Glass protects the display, which is worrying, because the thinner the layer, the less protection it offers the screen. Still, the Carbon 1 Mark II is still a breakthrough in smartphone design.

Today, Apple agreed to pay an amount that could rise up to $500 million dollars to settle claims from various quarters that the smartphone company had intentionally slowed down older models of the iPhone.
This means that every affected iPhone user could get $25 from Apple over this discrepancy. Apple and lawyers representing iPhone users came to an agreement stemming from Apple’s admission in 2017 that it had deliberately slowed down device performance of its older models.
Apple claims that it deliberately slowed down device performance to avoid problems related to battery fatigue. This led to Apple giving off discounted battery replacements at $29, but a number of people claimed these replacements came late, as they had already acquired newer phones since Apple did not reveal the cause of the slow device performance.
The company will be made to pay $93 million to lawyers representing the iPhone users. Affected users who were named in the class-action lawsuit are set to get $3,500 each with the remaining part of the total settlement (said to range between $310 million and $500 million) set to be distributed among owners of the iPhones 6, 6S, 7 and SE models who are eligible due to the operating system their devices run.
The settlement is subject to approval by a judge on the 3 rd of April in San Jose, California and as at the time of this article, Apple had not made an official announcement regarding the situation.
