Scams are increasingly popular. From messages about a scheduled interview for a job you never even applied for to free money you have been given for just no reason, fraudsters are becoming more creative. Sometimes, these messages aren’t clear as outright scams, and even seem like legitimate communications. Finding out if a suspicious message or online alert is fraudulent is becoming more difficult. To help tackle this issue, Google is expanding the functionality of one of its most popular Android features, Circle to Search , turning it into a scam detector for your text messages. This development is included in the recently announced Android 16 QPR2 update .
Google’s Circle to Search was designed to let users quickly search for items by circling them on the screen. Now, detecting potential text scams is also possible. This improvement blends the core AI capabilities of Google Search directly into your messaging interface, creating a defence shield against phishing and fraud attempts.
Circle to Search now has AI-powered fraud detection
When you receive suspicious texts, emails, or social media messages that ring alarm bells, you can verify the message with Circle to Search by drawing a loop around the text block. It carries out a search that consults information from across the web. The results will be seen in an AI Overview at the top of the screen. The summary will include online data, such as reports of similar scams, known fraudulent tactics, or warnings from official sources, to determine whether the message is malicious.
When a message is flagged as a likely scam by the AI Overview, it issues a warning and provides immediate guidance by suggesting the best next steps to take. Such actions include blocking the number, reporting the incident, or verifying the request through official channels, like directly logging into a bank’s website instead of clicking a link in the message.
With this new Google feature, Android users now have an additional security layer against fraud. Integrating a real-time scam detector directly to smartphones increases digital security, but of course, it won’t stop scams completely as all AI systems are prone to mistakes.

Samsung Health is cancelling an old routine of downloadable programmes for a new redesigned app rollout, starting from this month. It means that any routine content uploaded before December 31, 2025, will be deleted in a major data cleanup.
Many long-running fitness programmes are removed as the company plans to unveil a new version of the app. This will cause Samsung to lose a large portion of its built-in wellness content services.
According to a leak by SamMobile , a new update will be released this December and it will add new features as well as remove some existing ones. The company has started informing Samsung Health users that specific content within the Fitness tab is about to be cancelled.
Though the company hasn’t given any explanation yet, but the move tallies with Samsung’s gradual adjusting approach toward streamlined Health integrations across Galaxy phones , Galaxy Watches and coming AI-driven features.
Most of the content being removed are older materials and downloadable files. Notices have been sent to Samsung Health users, explaining that the new Samsung Health app, starting from this month, will no longer offer “programmes offered through downloads” in the Fitness Programme section.
Samsung clears out old data to create a space for new, likely cloud-based features. Thus, programmes uploaded before December 31, will be automatically erased from the service. It’s actually a major cleanup.
This update won’t wipe all favourite routines as the content available for real-time streaming will remain. The newer streaming classes from Samsung’s partners will still be there if you use them. Though an older version of the app might encounter errors when you try to access these deprecated programs after the server-side switch changes.
The upgrade gives the opportunity to get new and more advanced tools in place of older fitness programmes. It’s coming at the same time as Samsung’s latest software version , One UI 8.5.
According to new posts, the new Samsung Health version will feature improved weekly summaries as part of One UI 8.5 that will give you better insights into your health trends, not just showing raw data.
