Qualcomm’s latest chip, the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4, is a successor to the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, and it offers better performance as expected. It packs new features for longer battery life, faster connectivity and high-quality photos.
Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 switches to Samsung’s 4nm process node
Instead of using TSMC’s 6nm (N6) process node featured in the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3, Qualcomm made the switch to a more advanced Samsung Foundry’s 4nm (4LPX) process node. With this 4nm process node, phones will have better power management, which means longer battery life.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 specifications
The new chipset comes with four Cortex-A78 high-performance CPU cores with a 2.4 GHz refresh rate. It also packs four Cortex-A55 power-efficient CPU cores clocking at 1.8 GHz. Unlike the Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 that features two high-performance CPU cores, Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 has four high-performance CPU cores instead, increasing CPU performance by 36%.
Qualcomm also promises a 59% improvement to its Adreno GPU. Compared to the 120Hz refresh rate of the Gen 3, the Gen 4 can power Full HD+ screens at a refresh rate of 144Hz.
The chip packs Vulkan 1.3 API support, Variable Rate Shading (VRS), and Qualcomm Game Quick Touch for better gaming performance on affordable phones. It enables HDR gaming and HDR video playback in the HLG format. It supports up to 12GB of RAM with a microSD for storage expansion, and offers up to 100W fast wired charging.
Camera performance also got a few changes. Qualcomm added its new dual-12-bit Spectra image signal processor (ISP) that supports 200MP camera sensors, 2K video recording at 30fps, and slow-motion capture of up to 240fps in HD resolution (720p). 4K video recording remains a feature for more expensive phones.
For connectivity, the processor features a 5G modem, supports dual-SIM 5G connectivity of up to 2.9Gbps download speed. The chip also comes with triple-frequency (L1/L2/L5), Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.4 LE. It also supports Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Max ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
