Google added a new power-saving mode to Google Maps during the November launch. This feature allows the app to run directly on the Pixel 10 ’s Always-On Display while reducing power usage.

According to Android Authority posts , some users of Pixel 10 are now gaining access to Google Maps’ power-saving mode, as the company rolls it out more widely. The feature uses the phone’s AOD Min Mode to run Maps directly on the Always-On Display while consuming less power.
The Maps displays only important navigation directions and shows the instructions in black-and-white, with the screen brightness and refresh rate also reduced to help with battery life.
To find out if the new power saving mode is on your Pixel 10, go to Google Maps settings > Navigation and enable the toggle for Power saving mode under Driving options. Or if the feature is available for your account, a card will appear the next time you use navigation directions in Google Maps on your Pixel 10 while driving. This development to Google Maps is coming at the same time with dual functionality that makes voice navigation very easy.

Google Maps’ power-saving mode on the Pixel 10 gives an idea of how much battery it can save in a real-life situation. This is especially useful for those who regularly use their Pixel 10 for navigation sessions. Other navigation options, like walking or biking, are currently not supported. It only works with driving mode.
Google Maps’ power-saving mode is only available to the Pixel 10 family for the time being, though the company may bring it to the Pixel 9 series. Within the next few months, it’s expected to reach other high-end Android devices.
