Add MobilityArena as a preferred source on Google
Today, Google has announced the Pixel 9 smartphone, and it goes on sale in the United States on the 22nd of August 2024. It comes in four color schemes – Porcelain, Peony, Wintergreen and Obsidian – and two storage options – 128GB and 256GB. RAM is 12GB on both variants.
The Google Pixel 9’s frame is made of aluminum, while there is Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the back panel. The whole device is water and dust protected, with an IP68 rating.
The Google Pixel 9 comes in four color schemes.
The Google Pixel 9 costs $800 and $900 in the United States, for the 128GB storage trim and the 256GB storage trim, respectively.
In the United Kingdom (UK), it goes for £800 and £900 respectively. And in European Union (EU) countries like Germany, Norway, the Netherlands and others, it goes for €900 and €1,000 respectively.
Google Pixel 9 has a 6.3-inch OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate and also protected by a sheet of Gorilla Glass Victus 2. It is a relatively compact phone and weighs 198g. The display houses a 10.5MP selfie camera in a centered punch hole at the top. In the lower section is embedded an ultrasonic fingerprint sensor. At the back of the Pixel 9 is a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 48MP ultra-wide camera.
Google Pixel phones are not known for really fast charging standards, and this year’s model supports only 27W fast charging based on the Power Delivery standard. The battery capacity is 4700mAh.
Usually, Pixel phones launch with an entirely new version of Android OS, but this time, that isn’t happening. The Pixel 9 launches with Android 14 instead of 15. Google says that it will get Android 15 in a few months. According to Google’s software update policy, the Pixel 9 will get 7 years of major Android updates and security patches. So, you should be able to use it comfortably for that length of time .
Pre-order
Meanwhile, you can pre-order the Google Pixel 9 in the US and Europe right away. A pre-order of the 128GB Pixel 9 will get you a free storage upgrade, so you get the 256GB version at no extra cost. It sounds like a good deal if you are thinking of getting the phone anyway.

Alongside the announcements of the Pixel 9 , Pixel 9 Pro, Pixel 9 Pro XL, and the Pixel 9 Fold, Google has also opened the wraps on their new AI image generation app, Pixel Studio. This new app uses Google’s Imagen 3 AI model to generate images from the text prompts that you provide.
If you have tried to use any of the available AI image generators in existence, you most likely found that you had to pay for it, but if you own any of the Google Pixel 9 devices, Pixel Studio is complimentary – completely free of charge. It is just another one of the reasons to get a Pixel 9.
Because Pixel Studio is an on-device image generator and so requires no Internet connection, it has the advantage of being able to run faster and work regardless of network situations. The app is coming just a few weeks after Apple announced its own AI image generator named Image Playground. Apple’s image generator is also an on-device model.
Google Pixel Studio will not only generate images using AI diffusion machine learning technology, but it will also allow you edit the generated images, and also let you drag and drop the images directly into a chat or email. Nifty. We all love to share; don’t we?
