The Android 17 release is on the horizon, and it could come with new features like a long-awaited native App Lock solution . We had a general idea of how this rumoured feature will work, but it still left out a few unknowns, such as how the feature would handle incoming notifications from locked apps. The Android Canary 2601 release clarifies that.

This new Android Canary build includes strings that indicate how App Lock would handle notifications from locked apps (via Android Authority):

New notification

New message

The strings show that locked apps will still receive visible notifications, but the notification content will not be visible.

An example is a user who locked the Google Messages app with App Lock. If they receive a message, they will only see a “New message” notification in their notification bar and not a notification with the message contents. If it isn’t a messaging notification, the text will change to “New notification” without showing what the notification is.

We’re not clear on if the name of the app and its icon will be visible. It will probably display the name of the app and its icon, since that’s the way the user will know which app gets the notification.

When Google launches the feature, we’ll know exactly how this works. For now, this is what we’ve heard.

ASUS just launched the ROG Falchion Ace 75 HE at CES 2026 . The 75% keyboard layout of the gaming keyboard makes it easy to use with dedicated arrow keys without taking up much space on a desk.

This new model switches to magnetic Hall Effect (HE) that doesn’t rely on physical contact like the regular mechanical switches. It uses magnets to pick up key presses, allowing users to change the actuation point, that is the distance a key travels before registering, from a shallow 0.1mm to a deep 3.5mm.

This quick control enables features like Rapid Trigger, that resets a key as soon as your finger leaves the button. This makes it faster to trigger repetitive inputs. Speed Tap mode prioritises the most recent directional press to eliminate movement conflicts in fast-paced shooters. The keyboard’s 8,000Hz polling rate reduces input lag to as low as a fraction of a millisecond.

The ASUS keyboard keeps both speed and user experience in mind. It makes use of silicone and PORON for a six-layer dampening system to absorb vibrations. This eliminates the hollow ping sound that most gaming boards have, while giving enough spacing between the keys. This improves the typing sound.

ASUS also included a multi-function touch panel and a dedicated wheel to easily adjust the volume or actuation sensitivity without pausing a game.

The Falchion Ace 75 HE comes with a protective carry case and an L-shaped USB-C cable to maintain a tidy desk setup. Also, in place of heavy, mandatory software downloads, the company is letting users configure their settings through a web-based tool called Gear Link. This allows you to remap keys and adjust lighting directly from a browser while keeping your system lean.
