Google just announced that Pixel phones and iPhones can now share files seamlessly, with Quick Share working perfectly with AirDrop. This development is completely attributed to Google’s efforts and not a collaboration between Google and Apple. The announcement mentions Android and iPhone users, but the functionality also extends to other Apple devices.

Quick Share of Pixel with AirDrop of iPhone, iPad and Mac - 1

The Quick Share support page has a section labelled “Send content on your Android phone.” A new tab has now been added to this section. It confirms that Quick Share works with Apple iPhones, iPads and macOS devices. There is now a section dedicated to sharing files with Apple devices entitled “Receive content on an iPhone, iPad, or macOS device”.

This new method of file transfer allows for two-way file sharing. You can also send content from an Apple device to your Pixel. In this case, the Pixel recipient will adjust their Quick Share visibility settings to “Everyone for 10 minutes” or be in “Receive” mode. You’ll see a notification telling you who’s trying to share files with you.
