HMD – short for Human Mobile Devices – has been producing their own-branded smartphones since early 2024. The first such device was the Pulse, released in April 2024. Since then, the company has released a total of 10 smartphones and 5 feature phones.

HMD Android 15 Update - 1

HMD’s Software Update Policy

HMD’s Software update policy is a bit of a mess right now. The company has not made a firm commitment for major Android updates for their smartphones across the board.

Some of their phones will get only security updates for two years and no major Android updates. Some others will get three years of security updates and two years of software updates.

It isn’t the most exciting software update policy ever, considering that you have a brand like Samsung now offering up to 6 years of major OS updates for some of their budget models. The budget segment of the smartphone market is where HMD operates.

A number of other phone brands provide two years of OS updates and three years of security patches.

HMD Android 15 Update List

Below is the list of HMD phones that have been confirmed to get Android 15.

  • HMD Pulse
  • HMD Pulse+
  • HMD Pulse Pro
  • HMD Fusion
  • HMD Skyline
  • HMD T21 (tablet)

It is a pretty short list. And a bit disappointing, too. Solid software support would have been a good way for the new generation of HMD smartphones to hit the ball out of the park.

As at July, HMD could not confirm whether the Crest and Crest Max would get any Android OS updates but affirmed that those two devices will only get two years of security patches. If that changes, we will update this page with the details.

The HMD Android 15 Update rollout schedule

The HMD Android 15 Update began rolling out on the 29th of December 2024 with the HMD Pulse Pro becoming the first HMD smartphone to get the software update.

Other phones on the list are expected to get their updates in 2025.
