The Google Pixel 10 lineup made its debut in August but we’re already looking forward to the Pixel 11 release in 2026. Rumours suggest that there will be a major upgrade to the phone’s processor.
Popular tipster, Mystic, leaks that Google is testing Mediatek’s M90 modem with the Tensor G6 processor instead of the usual Samsung’s Exynos modem. It is next in line after the Tensor G5 in Pixel 10. Google has always partnered with Samsung in building its Tensor chips and modems for as far back as the Pixel 6 release. The Pixel 11 powered by the Tensor G6 will be the first Google flagship phone to solely rely on MediaTek’s modem.

Google’s Tensor G5 chipset hinted at something like this. The Tensor G5 used in Pixel 10 was actually manufactured by TSMC and not Samsung Foundry. Google was already reconsidering its partnership with the Korean tech giant. So for the next Tensor chipset, they’re swapping out the Exynos-based modem with MediaTek’s M90 modem.
In terms of performance, the M90— codenamed ‘Malibu’—offers faster download speeds of 12 Gbps, better 5G and satellite connectivity, and AI-driven power optimisations. The Tensor G6 chip is rumoured to receive another upgrade. With most competitors still using TSMC’s 3nm process node, Google aims to step up its game with the 2nm. This boosts the CPU performance by 15% and power usage by 30%.
This won’t be the first move Google is making to team up with MediaTek. Reports suggest Google initially considered using the M90 modem for Pixel 10 but ended up with Samsung’s Exynos 5400i. The story might end differently with Google Pixel 11 as early testing points to M90 being used in internal builds and bootloader code.
All this is still speculation and hasn’t officially been confirmed by Google. The Google Pixel 11 series is expected to include the Pixel 11 Pro, the Pixel 11 Pro XL, and the Pixel 11 Pro Fold. The Pixel 11 series will run faster and cooler than the previous lineups.
