The HONOR Magic8 series has officially been announced. According to HONOR, it’s their first flagship smartphones to feature self-evolving AI. While only available in China at the moment, the global launch will happen later on.

The two phones in the lineup—the Pro version and the standard model—will come with the most advanced generation of HONOR’s Yoyo Agent, breakthrough AI camera capabilities, and top-tier performance. The smartphones are built on three core pillars: hardware performance, system interaction, and application ecosystem. And like all tech giants, AI capabilities take the spotlight.

According to the company, HONOR AI automatically executes tasks across more than 3,000 scenarios. It gives examples of handling manual routine tasks like deleting blurry photos from screenshots and taking on more complex assignments like summarising a week’s worth of expenses and even emailing them to your manager. All you have to do is provide the necessary details and the Yoyo Agent will automatically complete the given tasks. Users don’t have to worry about minor daily tasks anymore because Yoyo Agent can help out with them.

There is a new AI Button

Both phones feature a new AI Button to easily access the YO assistant. The button can also be customised for other features. By default, a long press instantly activates the Yoyo Video Call while double-clicking lets you take pictures.

The AI button isn’t the only thing that’s new. The company also talked about the improvements in its AiMAGE Camera System to deliver sharper, clearer pictures powered by next-generation AI. This is better integrated in the HONOR Magic8 Pro as it has a more powerful camera setup than the Magic8.

The HONOR Magic8 Pro Camera Setup

The device comes with a powerful triple camera setup. The 50MP main camera packs a 1/1.3-inch camera sensor, an f/1.6 aperture lens and OIS technology. The 200MP periscope telephoto unit features a 1/1.4-inch sensor size, an f/2.6 aperture lens, and a 3.7x optical zoom. For the third camera, a 50MP ultrawide unit offers an f/2.0 aperture lens and a 122-degree FoV for wide-range photography. The front camera is a 50MP sensor equipped with a 3D Depth Camera for advanced facial recognition. Now, let’s look at the processor.

HONOR Magic 8 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5Magic 8 Pro runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. The phone comes with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. While the Chinese model comes with a 7,100mAh battery, the version for the European market will include a 6,270mAh. It includes the 100W wired and 80W wireless HONOR SuperCharge charging support. With a 6.71-inch OLED display panel, it boasts a brightness of up to 6,000 nits and a refresh speed ranging from 1-120Hz.

It also offers an IP68/IP69/IP69K rating for water and dust resistance. With a thickness of 8.4mm, the Magic8 Pro weighs 213g and will roll out in black, sky cyan, and sunrise gold colours. Both devices will roll out with MagicOS 10 which is based on Android 16.

7 Steps to Enhance Android Gaming Performance

1. Use Game Mode to Prioritize Performance

Most modern Android phones come with a dedicated Game Mode or Game Booster:

  • It automatically reallocates CPU and GPU resources to your game, kills unnecessary background apps, and improves network stability.
  • Find it under your phone’s settings: Samsung: Settings > Advanced Features > Game Booster Xiaomi: Security App > Game Turbo OnePlus: Settings > Utilities > Gaming Mode Nothing Phone: Settings > System > Game Mode

Turn it on before gaming and enjoy smoother frame rates and better touch responsiveness.

2. Keep Your Phone and Games Updated

Game developers and phone makers constantly release updates to optimize performance and squash bugs:

  • Go to Settings → System → Software Update to ensure your OS is current.
  • Update your games regularly via the Play Store to get the latest performance patches.

Skipping updates is like trying to win a race with snow on your tires — not recommended.

3. Close Background Apps Before Gaming

Apps running silently in the background consume precious CPU and RAM:

  • Use the recent apps menu to swipe away unnecessary tasks.
  • Consider enabling Do Not Disturb or Focus Mode to silence notifications that might slow things down or break your concentration.

4. Adjust Graphics and Refresh Rate Settings in Games

Many modern games offer options to adjust graphics quality and frame rates to match your device’s capability:

  • Lower graphics quality or resolution settings to boost frame rates if your device struggles during intense scenes.
  • If your phone supports higher refresh rates (90Hz, 120Hz), enable this in Settings > Display for smoother gameplay.

5. Manage Device Temperature

Overheating throttles performance like a speed bump on your gameplay highway:

  • Avoid gaming while charging.
  • Take gaming breaks to let your phone cool down.
  • Reduce screen brightness or turn off unnecessary visual effects.

6. Use Android’s Dynamic Performance Modes (for Advanced Users)

Starting from Android 14, the Dynamic Performance Framework features modes like GAME and GAME_LOADING that manufacturers can use to tune CPU and GPU priorities during gameplay or loading screens, improving smoothness and load times.

While this is mostly automatic, check if your device offers custom performance modes in settings or via manufacturer apps and tune accordingly.

7. Free Up Storage Space and Optimize RAM

Sufficient free storage ensures your game assets load quickly.

  • Delete unused apps or media.
  • Use device care tools to optimize RAM and clean cache.

Conclusion

Boosting Android Gaming Performance in 2025 isn’t about fancy tricks — it’s about making the most of what your device already offers. With tools like Game Mode, consistent software updates, and a little mindfulness about background apps and heat, you can take your gameplay to the next level. Keep these simple habits in check, and you’ll notice your Android Gaming Performance running smoother, faster, and more stable. After all, great games deserve great Android Gaming Performance — and your phone is more than ready to deliver it.
