Taiwanese tech company HTC may have gone off the boil with smartphones in recent times, with a number of other makers like Samsung and Huawei taking the charge ahead of them but they have not entirely forgotten about smartphones. According to reports, company CEO Yves Maitre has confirmed that HTC will release a 5G phone this year.
Maitre did not reveal much about the said device, but with the prospect of supporting 5G technology, the device is expected to be one with high-end specs. With the tech company seemingly more interested in virtual reality, it will be interesting to see how the new HTC device will perform on the market.
HTC Vive VR Headset
HTC were popularly one of the first brands to start the creation of Android phones, but somehow could not evolve and keep up with the times, eventually getting left behind by smartphone makers like Samsung, Huawei and Apple.
With the glory days of HTC smartphones now history, this will be one smartphone that will be received with mixed reactions, as we will wait to see how this smartphone does and what kind of reviews it would receive. It would be recalled that the last high-end device released by HTC in 2018, the U12+ got a number of mediocre reviews online, with the company seemingly focusing on devices like the Exodus going forward.
The HTC device may not be anticipated by so many techies due to their falling stock in smartphones, but we will be keeping our eyes peeled out to see how the phone fares when it is finally released.
