Slim became the trend for tech giants like Apple and Samsung in 2025. The iPhone Air was Apple’s first ultra-slim phone. While it was hyped initially, that’s all it was, a hype without much sales as anticipated. This was mainly due to the limitations of the thin design.

Earlier rumours suggested Apple had cancelled the Air series. According to later reports, the company didn’t cancel the feature after all. It only delayed the launch of its successor till the fall of 2027. A new leak claims otherwise and that the iPhone Air 2 will only bring minor upgrades .
iPhone Air 2 launch in 2026
Regarding the launch, it was initially thought that the second-generation iPhone Air would come sometime in 2027, precisely in the fall. A tipster on Weibo claims that Apple will launch the iPhone Air 2 later this year . According to the leaker, the iPhone Air 2 will launch in the fall of 2026, and might arrive alongside the iPhone 18 Pro models and the first foldable iPhone.
iPhone Air 2 doesn’t come with major upgrades
Regarding the upgrades, the leaker says the iPhone Air 2 will have very minor changes. The initial reason for the delay of the launch in 2027 was so the company could work on upgrades, such as adding a second rear camera, vapour chamber cooling, and even a large battery.
From Bloomberg’s report in November, the iPhone Air 2 was not actually delayed, as Apple didn’t earmark the iPhone Air 2 for 2026 at all. The iPhone Air 2 is believed to roll out in Spring 2027 alongside the iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e, as a part of the new split-launch strategy. The report also states that the main focus of the Air 2 will be moving to a 2nm chip, as it will improve the battery life without any major structural changes .
With time, we will know which of the reports are true and if the iPhone Air 2 will launch with the necessary upgrades we expect.
