Galaxy S series phones usually launch early in the year, sometime in late January or early February. For the Galaxy S26 series , there seems to be a delay in the launch date.

Galaxy S26 will launch in February 2026

According to MoneyToday , the Galaxy S26 series could launch on February 25, 2026. Next year’s Galaxy Unpacked event will be held in San Francisco. Ever since the launch of the Galaxy S23 series, next year will be Samsung’s first return to San Francisco for a Galaxy S launch.

There have been reports of Samsung making changes to the Galaxy S series with the launch of next year’s devices — the Galaxy S26 Pro, Galaxy S26 Edge, and Galaxy S26 Ultra. Galaxy S26 Edge ended up being cancelled due to the poor sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge, and the company decided to stick to its original structure.

According to reports, Samsung plans to reintroduce its Exynos chip with the 2026 devices, and this time, it will come back stronger. Some Galaxy S26 will feature the powerful Exynos 2600 chip, the world’s first 2nm-class smartphone chip. The Exynos 2600 is developed by Samsung’s System LSI arm and built on Samsung Foundry’s 2nm process node, featuring a 10-core CPU (ARM C1) and an AMD RDNA-based Xclipse 960 GPU.

The Galaxy S26 and S26+ could come with the Exynos 2600 processor in the global market, excluding Canada, China, and the USA. Some Galaxy S26 models could also run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 to be launched in selected countries like the United States, Japan, and China.

Samsung is expected to launch its next major OS update in the next few months. One UI 8.5 update will come with advanced features to make Galaxy phones easier and more convenient to use.

A leak reveals a new feature the One UI 8.5 update will bring. According to SammyGuru , Galaxy phones will feature “Prioritize notifications,” which will give a higher status to some notifications it deems as important.

Prioritize notifications on One UI 8.5 will help in notification management

Important notifications will be prioritised and will appear above other notifications so they can be attended to faster. Users will also be able to choose whether to prioritise notifications for each app in the app’s notification settings.

It is unknown how exactly the feature will work but the purpose is clear. This useful feature will save you time in screening through your notifications, sorting the urgent and important ones from the others, and allow you to attend to urgent matters. The notification management feature does its processing offline without connecting to the cloud.

When will One UI 8.5 roll out?

Before the One UI 8.5 update release, there will likely be a beta release. Prioritize notifications might be included in the updated after necessary changes have been made. It is also uncertain when exactly the One UI 8.5 will roll out, but it will most likely be in January or February after the Samsung Galaxy S26 launch and before the One UI 9 rollout in the middle of 2026.

Other rumours of the One UI 8.5 include a double-tap gesture that works on the back of the phone, as well as camera and design tweaks to improve Galaxy devices.
