The Xiaomi 17 series, powered by the impressive Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, made its debut last month, but not the Ultra model. As usual, it is the flagship phone packed with more features that is launched at a later date. Reports suggest that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra may arrive by the end of the year, rather than 2026 as initially expected.
Rumours have it that Xiaomi 17 Ultra will pack a sophisticated camera setup for high-resolution photography. Popular tipster, Digital Chat Station, has shared a post on Weibo that reveals more details on the camera.
Xiaomi 17 Ultra quad camera setup
From the leak , the upcoming Ultra device could feature a rear quad-camera layout—50MP + 50MP + 50MP + 200MP. The main camera will come with a larger sensor with support for ultra-high dynamic range. The periscope camera will feature a larger sensor supported by new optical technology, with the remaining cameras of the 17 Ultra having a standard layout.
Camera Specifications of Xiaomi 17 Ultra
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra may come with an OmniVision OV50X 50MP main camera, a Samsung JN5 50MP ultra-wide lens, a Samsung JN5 50MP telephoto camera, and a 200MP Samsung HPE periscope telephoto camera. For the front, there will be an OmniVision OV50M 50MP camera.
According to the leak, the Xiaomi 17 Ultra could come in two versions, with an upscale version offering more innovative camera capabilities, although both versions will feature the same camera setup.
Previously, the tipster shared that the Xiaomi 17 Ultra will come with an advanced continuous optical zoom system, featuring a 200MP large sensor with a multi-element periscope zoom lens. The camera setup features a shared CMOS sensor across focal lengths, allowing for effortless zooming without changing cameras. Packed with other advanced features, the 17 Ultra will be one of Xiaomi’s most advanced camera systems.

From MWC and Google I/O, we got a glimpse of what Samsung’s Android XR Headset (Project Moohan) will look like, but we don’t have many details as to the specifications. A new leak gives us an insight into what we need to know about Project Moohan before its official launch.
Detection and control system
From the pictures Android Headlines got its hands on, the alleged VR headset will feature six cameras on the front and two lenses internally. To keep the headset firmly but comfortably attached to your face, these lenses will be lined with a soft, spongy material. With a light weight of just 545 grams, the headset won’t make your head feel heavy.
The VR headset will detect gestures and eye movement with the sensors below the glass. The sensors at all four corners—bottom left, bottom right, top left, and top right—are for hand tracking, and the two round sensors at the bottom of the headset, next to the nose cutout, will pick up on your hand gestures. The headset will also include a depth sensor, located close to the user’s forehead, to help you understand and navigate your surroundings.
The device will pack four eye-tracking cameras powered by infrared LEDs and AI to keep an eye on your pupils throughout its use. The volume control button and a Top button are located at the top of the device. With the Top button, you can access the UI and apps. A long press launches Google Gemini.
Some other key features are located at the bottom of the headset. They include air vents, several sensors, and multiple advanced microphones to detect the wearer’s voice and differentiate it from when someone speaks to them. Project Moohan will pack two controllers that support 6 Degrees of Freedom (DoF), tracking movement in all directions —up, down, left, right, forward, backward, and rotation. Each controller comes with analog sticks for precise navigation and control. There will also be haptic feedback for accurate 3D movement tracking and enhanced immersion.
One UI XR for Samsung’s VR headset
Samsung’s Android XR Headset will be powered by One UI XR. Users will be able to customise applications they need handy from the list of applications including Camera, Gallery, Google Chrome, Maps, YouTube, Netflix, and others. Such personalised settings can be done with the top menu that contains, other icons for controls.
The device will pack a 4K micro-OLED display across two screens with an impressive Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 processor that supports spatial audio, gestures, AI, and tracking. A right-stem touchpad on the right side is used for basic navigation. A long-tap recenters your view and a double-tap switches between VR mode and pass-through mode. There’s a left-side power connector for a brick battery. It boasts 2.5 hours of video playback and 2 hours of general use, featuring 2-way speakers (woofer and tweeter) on each side for spatial audio.
The leak has not been confirmed yet but when the headset does arrive, we’ll know if it was accurate. The rumoured release date is October 21 or 22.
