Moving your eSIM phone number between two Android phones is quite easy. It becomes more complicated moving your eSIM between iOS and Android devices. Although Apple and Google have made efforts to simplify the process in iOS 26 and Android 16, you still need to contact your carrier to make the shift. Samsung is working to streamline the process between your iPhone and Galaxy phone.

eSIM transfer from an iPhone to a Galaxy phone - 1

The upcoming Samsung update, One UI 8.5, will include the option to port an eSIM phone number from an iPhone to a Galaxy device without involving your carrier. If Samsung makes this change, iPhone users will find it easier to make the switch to Android.

A string of code in a leaked build of One UI 8.5 points to the change (from Android Authority ).

Code

<code>&lt;string name="esim_add_d2d_xos_transfer"&gt;Transfer SIM from iPhone&lt;/string&gt;</code>

Similar to how One UI 8 gives you the option of transferring an eSIM from another phone when you’re setting up on a new device, One UI 8.5 will give you a similar option, except this time there will be two options specific to the type of device—one from an Android phone and the other an iOS.

One UI 8.5 hasn’t officially made its release to devices yet, but the One UI 8.5 beta will reportedly roll out during the last week of November for selected devices. It is likely Galaxy S25, Z Fold 7, and Z Flip 7 will be eligible devices. It is uncertain whether Samsung plans to introduce this eSIM transfer feature into the beta update or wait till the official launch of stable One UI 8.5 next year.

How It Works to Share Wi-Fi Passwords

Apple uses a clever combination of Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, along with your Apple ID contacts, to securely transmit your Wi-Fi password from one device to another without typing a single letter. It’s like magic, minus the hat and rabbit!

Step 1: Prepare Your Devices

  • Make sure both devices (the one sharing the password and the one receiving it) have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on.
  • Turn off Personal Hotspot if it’s enabled on either device.
  • Ensure both devices are unlocked and awake.

Step 2: Add Each Other to Contacts

  • Both devices must have each other’s Apple ID email addresses saved in their Contacts. It’s Apple’s way of making sure you’re sharing only with friends, not random strangers.

Step 3: Connect the Device Needing Wi-Fi

  • On the acting “guest” device (the one that needs the password), go to Settings → Wi-Fi, and tap the name of the Wi-Fi network you want to join.
  • A pop-up will then appear on the “host” device asking if you want to share the password.

Step 4: Share the Password

  • On the “host” device, tap the Share Password button when the notification pops up.
  • The password is sent securely, and the new device connects automatically — no typing or copying necessary!
  • Tap Done to finish.

Step 5: Alternative: Share a QR Code for Non-Apple Devices

  • On the Wi-Fi settings page of the “host” device, tap the network name, then tap Show Network QR Code.
  • The “guest” device (including Android) can scan this QR code using the camera app to join the Wi-Fi.

Tips for Smooth Sharing

  • Make sure devices are physically close (within Bluetooth range).
  • Both devices running the latest iOS, iPadOS, or macOS versions helps.
  • If the option doesn’t pop up, try turning Bluetooth off and on again or restarting the devices.

Conclusion

Gone are the days of awkwardly spelling out long codes or guessing random letters — now you can Share Wi-Fi Passwords with nearby Apple devices in seconds. It’s quick, secure, and incredibly easy. So, the next time friends come over, just Share Wi-Fi Passwords with a simple tap and skip the hassle. With how smooth it is to Share Wi-Fi Passwords, you’ll definitely look like the tech-savvy hero of the day.
