Even though the OnePlus Open was a hit after its launch in 2023, there hasn’t been a successor. It seems that things may remain that way this year too.

Yogesh Brar, a popular leaker, shared on X that the OnePlus Open 2 has been cancelled . It’s not clear if the foldable won’t be available this year at all or has been scrapped completely from the foldable phone market. The OnePlus Open 2 isn’t the only phone that may have been cancelled. Brar continued that there’s a 90% chance the OnePlus 15s has also been cancelled.

Another product getting cancelled is the OnePlus Open 2… — Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) January 10, 2026

What’s the reason?

For the OnePlus Open 2, the company previously claimed it wouldn’t launch in 2025 because the market wasn’t mainstream enough yet. That’s still the case now. But with the iPhone Fold landing this year, things could be different. More foldables will go into the spotlight, so maybe the OnePlus might choose to launch its second foldable phone after that, in 2026. Nothing is certain though.

OnePlus 15, a sibling to the OnePlus 15T - 1

Another reason the OnePlus Open 2 not launching this year, as NotebookCheck points out, is that Oppo – the parent company of OnePlus – is planning a global release for the Find N6 . If it launched a OnePlus Open 2, it would likely just be a revamped Find N6. The OnePlus Open 2 would just take up some sales for the main foldable of OnePlus’ parent company.

Regarding the OnePlus 15s, it would still be similar to the OnePlus 15T with a market share in India anyway. Instead of launching two similar smartphones, the company thought to do away with one completely. It’s not certain yet whether the 15T will launch outside China.

Until the company confirms these details, we cannot fully believe the cancellation claims, but these are valid reasons for the OnePlus phones to not launch now.

The iPhone Fold is the first foldable from Apple. According to rumours, it will unveil later the year, at same time with the iPhone 18 Pro series.

Foldable iPhone (iPhone Fold) - 3

A new leak reveals the spec of the coming iPhone Fold. It also shows the materials Apple intends to use in the making of the device. The leak shows that the foldable iPhone will feature a hinge crafted from a material known as liquid metal . The reports show that Apple has been experimenting with this very material for more than 15 years.

There are benefits that come with the use of liquid metal, which include improving hinge durability and minimizing stress at the folding point . Moreso, the main body of the iPhone Fold will feature a new titanium material that offers greater strength. The device will come with a lighter overall weight than the titanium used in recent iPhone models.

Rumours still have it that the foldable iPhone will have unusual dimensions with an inner 7.76-inch panel and a 5.49-inch cover display. It’s expected to come with dual rear cameras and to be available for sale early next year.
