OnePlus built an almost cult following for itself based on its production of value-packed mid-range smartphones that rivalled premium flagships, and its first few generations of phones earned themselves the tag, “flagship killer”. Another thing that set OnePlus phones out is the custom user interface named OxygenOS.

OxygenOS is a neat, fluid, and fast customization of Android OS. Recently, OnePlus and its sister company, OPPO, further integrated their operations and are now beginning to share the same code base for their software. Both OnePlus and OPPO phones will get a new, unified operating system in 2022, hopefully one that looks more like OxygenOS than ColorOS.

OnePlus’ lovers and fans will be excited to see that happen. I do think that OxygenOS is a much more refined piece of software than ColorOS. Both brands will continue to exist side-by-side, though.

2021 OnePlus Phones sold in the USA

Anyway, if you are resident in the US and hunting for 2021 OnePlus phones that are available in the country, not all OnePlus models are sold in the United States. I have drawn up a list of those models that are available, to help you cut down on the work you have to do.

OnePlus 9

The OnePlus 9 was announced in March 2021 and features a 6.55″ 120 Hz refresh rate, Fluid AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, up to 12 GB RAM, up to 256 GB storage, 48-megapixel triple Hasselblad camera, stereo speakers, and 4500 mAh battery with 65W quick charging, 15W fast wireless charging, and USB Power Delivery. The 12/256 GB variant will set you back by $729.00.

OnePlus 9 Pro

The OnePlus 9 Pro was announced in March 2021 and features a 6.7″ 120 Hz refresh rate, LTPO Fluid2 AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5, Snapdragon 888 5G chipset, up to 12 GB RAM, up to 256 GB storage, 48-megapixel quad Hasselblad camera with telephoto lens, stereo speakers, and 4500 mAh battery with 65W quick charging, 50W fast wireless charging, and USB Power Delivery.

The 9 Pro has an aluminium frame and is IP68 dust/water-resistant. Its fingerprint scanner is an optical piece located under the display. The 12/256 GB variant will set you back by $1069.00.

OnePlus 9R

OnePlus N200 5G

The Nord N200 5G was announced in June 2021 and features a 6.49-inch, 90 Hz refresh rate, flat LTPS IPS LCD, Snapdragon 480 5G chipset, 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage, 16-megapixel selfie camera, 13-megapixel triple camera at the back, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and 5000 mAh battery with 18W quick charging. It will set you back by $239.99.

All the above 2021 OnePlus phones available in the United States are 5G-capable, so you can use them on your carrier’s spanking new, superfast 5G networks. You can buy these cellphones from your carrier, or get them unlocked from the OnePlus USA website, as well as from other independent retailers.

For US residents hoping to get their hands on the OnePlus Nord 2 5G , which is my personal favourite mid-range model of the year, unfortunately, that model is not officially available in the country. That sucks, really. If you really want one, you have to import it.

The pricing for this year’s iPhones did not see any major rise as against its predecessor, but, due to the dollar rates in certain areas at the moment, the prices of these devices are nothing to write home about. Asides, the initial purchase price, shipping, and other fees make purchasing one of these a very big deal.

The new device brought a some major upgrades to the previous model and even some new features, one making the rounds was the smaller notch which stood out as being a bit controversial. Let us talk about 5 features in the iPhone 13 lineup that we are excited about and why.

Top 5 iPhone 13 Lineup Features From Apple.

20210927 195712 adobespark - 3

If you are asked what features you think are to be top 5 in the iPhone 13 lineup, what will your choice be and why. We have put together 5 features on the iPhone 13 lineup and why these features are very important.

What do you think should be included, design? Over the years Apple has shown itself as being a company that does not pay attention to design, we saw the iPhone 7 and 8 line-ups looked so alike, as well as the iPhone 11 line-up and that of the iPhone 12 (except from the fact that the edges on the 12 were flattened out). Is there a design overhaul with the iPhone 13? Not exactly.

Here are our top 5 features to look out for in the iPhone 13 series:

  • Cameras : It might sound quite confusing, but yes, cameras are among the new features to look out for in the iPhone 13. One might argue that it has the same amount of megapixels as the iPhone 12, that is very true, but, the sensor on the iPhone 13 lineup are bigger than those on the 12 lineup. What do the bigger sensors mean for the camera ability of the iPhone 13 lineup? Having bigger sensors on a device means that more light will be allowed into the lens hence producing more crisp and clean pictures.

It does not just stop at having a bigger sensor, it gets even better with image stabilization. Most people overlook stabilization on smartphones, but this feature is so important in recording videos and taking pictures. With the iPhone 13 lineup, Apple changed the original OIS (optical image stabilization) to a new sensor shifting OIS. This means that the sensor present in the camera is doing the stabilization, not the actual lens of the camera.

Over the years Apple has proved itself to be a big player in the world of mobile photography and this year will be no different, Apple has packed even more features to the iPhone 13 lineup’s camera capabilities, one of these features is the macro camera abilities. This ability helps the smartphones take better picture at very close ranges to the object of focus while still retaining details. Well, a lot of Android counterparts have had this for a long while as well, but it is good to see that Apple finally sees it as being important to its users.

  • A15 bionic chip : The A15 bionic chip is the SoC on the iPhone 13 lineup. It is always lovely to see Apple put the exact same chip on all devices in its series, so whatever your budget is you are not receiving less power.

Processors are of great importance in any smartphone due to the fact that it determines the ability of the device. Processors are like the brain of the smartphone, little wonder why a 12MP sensor on an iPhone take better pictures than a 64MP sensor on a budget Android device. Multitasking, gaming, battery life optimization are all dependent on the processor of the device in question.

The A15 bionic chip has set a new standard for devices out there in terms of processing power. I think Apple has strategically positioned its launch events at a rather sweet spot. Why? Let us take a look at the A14 chip launched on the iPhone 12 series in 2020. This chipset completely outdid the already standing Snapdragon 865 which was launched months earlier, the A14 bionic chip was the fastest chip on AnTuTu benchmark at the time only to be overthrown months after by the Snapdragon 888 which out did it by a mile.

Thanks to the A15 bionic chip, the iPhone 13 lineup can run games smoothly and take even better pictures. I am seriously looking forward to the next flagship chipset from Snapdragon the “898” as it might be called, will this chipset outperform the A15 bionic? Let us have our fingers crossed on that one.

  • 120 Hz Refresh Rate : This has been one of the grounds where Android devices have been battling themselves. We have seen devices with 144 Hz refresh rates and so on, this helps the smartphones work even more seamlessly and also enables animations within the devices operating system more smooth.

Well a lot of people argue that this feature only appeals to individuals that multitask a lot and have to run between two or more apps concurrently. But is that claim really true? Not necessarily! Refresh rate basically refers to the amount of times a device can refresh the image displayed on its screen.

When in use, items on your device’s screen are always in motion, therefore pixels on your phone’s display needs to be updated constantly to produce a new image. So higher refresh rates equal a smoother experience while touching and scrolling and lower refresh rate equals lagging of the screen content.

Apple was generous to add this feature to the iPhone 13 lineup, or rather the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max the other models are left out. This brings the iPhones to the level of their Android counterparts in terms of higher touch samples and smoother transitions.

  • Cinematic Mode : We have talked about the cameras on the iPhone 13 line-up as one of the features we are excited about, it is essential that cinematic mode is treated separately due to the fact that it is as a result of software and not camera abilities.

Simply cinematic mode is Apple’s way of envisioning a future where a movie can be shot on an iPhone. Taking the understanding of depth and focus and leveraging this in the video abilities of the iPhone, cinematic mode is Apple’s win move.

Cinematic mode pushes videography on an iPhone to a whole new level, vloggers and cinematographers can take any device from the iPhone 13 lineup and take nice point and shoot video. A lot was said with regard to the cinematic mode on the iPhone 13 lineup, such as the device being able to switch focus immediately a new object walks into the frame by tracking it with the ultrawide camera and the adjusting the focus to accommodate it the moment it is in the frame. This feature is one of the features I will try the moment I get my hands on an iPhone 13.

But why this is more interesting is because more devices are pushing out to make the video abilities better than the competition, how will Apple perform in this respect? We will have to find out.

  • Battery Life : Over the years, Apple has shown no concern to battery life, but that is changing gradually. The iPhone 13 smartphones is made up of four devices, which individually have battery capacities as listed in the table below.

From the table, it is obvious that more attention is being paid to battery life here. Battery life on the iPhone 13 Pro Max is a lot better than that on the iPhone 12 Pro Max from last year. It will be fun to test the iPhone 13 lineup battery abilities on a day-to-day usage to see how it performs when compared to its Android counterparts.
