Samsung may have accidentally confirmed a Perplexity-powered Bixby, the updated Bixby in One UI 8.5 , which is expected to use Perplexity to answer web-based questions. It will work as a conversational assistant that understands not only exact voice commands, but also the intent behind them. It will be easy for Bixby to perform real-time web searches and show results directly with Perplexity integration.

In the past, Samsung depended on Google Gemini for its Galaxy AI features and as the main assistant on its flagship phones. According to Droid Life, Samsung announced that Bixby would be upgraded into a conversational device agent that uses Perplexity to handle more complex queries.
Still, according to the announcement, the new Bixby will allow users to control and navigate Galaxy devices using natural language, without issuing precise commands. It’ll understand user intent and carry out actions well, thereby making interactions natural.
The new Bixby can also tap into real-time web search through Perplexity. It enables it to pull in up-to-date information and produce results within the Bixby immediately.
According to Samsung, the upgraded Bixby will be available in some markets with One UI 8.5. Though the feature isn’t live yet, it’s expected to be unveiled in February. There’s the possibility it will be released at the same time as the Galaxy S26 series.

Google constantly tweaks Gemini’s usage limit due to high demand and resource constraints. The Gemini 3 offered a shared usage tier for the Thinking and Pro models. Things will be a little different now.

This increased usage limit is way higher than the previous shared 100 prompts per day limit on the AI Pro plan. Since both models excel at different tasks, the separate limit is fitting. Pro uses Gemini 3 Pro for advanced math and code, while Thinking solves complex problems with the Gemini 3 Flash model.
The Pro and Thinking models usage limits will be separated on the free tier. Google doesn’t make clear what those limits will be, but it mentions “Basic access” on its support page , with the daily limit frequently changing for load management.
In late November, Google imposed limits on its free tier due to high demand for Gemini 3. It reduced Nano Banana Pro free access to only 2 images per day. It later shifted to adjusting the limit daily based on demand. When the demand reduces, usage limits on the free tier will be clearer.
By upgrading the daily usage limit, users will be able to work better with complex workflows, especially the Thinking model. You’ll just switch to the Pro model when working with advanced math, or coding.
