The RedMagic 11 Air is set to launch in China on January 20. Before it launches, Nubia has started confirming key specifications and has also released pictures of the phone’s full design as well as its colour options.

Nubia’s upcoming slim RedMagic 11 Air will come with a 6.85-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. It also offers a 95.1% screen-to-body ratio, an under-display selfie camera , 2,592Hz PWM dimming, and 1.25mm thin bezels.

The smartphone features a curved rear transparent panel with an RGB logo and a triple camera setup. For colour options, the phone will be available in Aurora Silver, Stardust White, and Quantum Black . The Aurora Silver variant comes with orange highlights, while the other two include a red power button.

The RedMagic 11 Air will come with a thick 4D Ice-Step vapour chamber, a Red Core R4 esports chip, and an active cooling fan, unlike the liquid cooling of the RedMagic 11 Pro . It is said to measure 7.85 mm in thickness. It will be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. It comes with up to 24GB of RAM and a large 7,000mAh battery with 120W fast charging support.

The Dimensity 9500 SoC was launched in September last year. MediaTek has now followed it up with the new Dimensity 9500s, and also announced the mid-range Dimensity 8500 chipset. Similar to the Dimensity 9500, the new octa-core 9500s also features an ‘All Big Core’ architecture and is manufactured using a 3nm process.

MediaTek Dimensity 9500s

The Dimensity 9500s offers a primary Arm Cortex-X925 Ultra core clocked at 3.73GHz. It also features three Cortex-X4 premium cores and four Cortex-A720 performance cores. For graphics, the chipset comes with an Immortalis-G925 GPU that supports advanced ray tracing, adaptive game technology 3.0, and frame technology 3.0. It packs a flagship NPU for generative reasoning and multi-modal models support.

It also comes with the MediaTek Imagiq image processor for real-time motion tracking at up to 30fps, 8K 60 full-focus video recording with Dolby Vision HDR, and noise reduction. The chip supports up to a 320MP camera sensor and WQHD+ displays with up to 180Hz refresh rate.

The 9500s chipset comes with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4 storage supports. It features Wi-Fi 7, dual SIM dual active 5G, GPS, BeiDou, Glonass, Galileo, NavIC, QZSS, Bluetooth 5.4, and the MediaTek UltraSave 4.0 power saving technology.

The Dimensity 8500 offers an All Big Core CPU design, but is manufactured with a more efficient 4nm process. It packs eight Cortex-A725 cores clocked at up to 3.4GHz. It features a Mali-G720 GPU that offers up to 25% improved performance and 20% lower power consumption compared to the previous generation.

It comes with LPDDR5X 4-channel RAM, UFS 4 storage supports, and a MediaTek 8th-gen NPU (880) that supports most large language and image generation models. The chip also offers Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, the same GPS satellite support as the flagship 9500s, dual SIM dual active 5G connectivity, and MediaTek UltraSave 3.0+.

In terms of imaging, the SoC supports a maximum camera sensor of 320MP, 4K 60fps video recording, and displays up to WQHD+ resolution and 144Hz refresh rate.
