Last week, Google launched the Android 16 QPR3 Beta 2 update for Pixel 6 and newer devices. This version came with a lot of fixes, including an issue where Microsoft apps randomly crashed on previous versions. Although Google claimed it had addressed the issue, several users reported that the issue was still present. This Android 16 beta is still crashing known work apps .

Android 16 beta app crashing continues

Users have reported on the Android beta subreddit and Google’s Issue Tracker that apps are still crashing, even after Google’s claims of fixing the issue. The app-crashing issue varies from user to user. For some, certain Microsoft apps, like Teams, crash abruptly. For others, it’s a larger mix of apps and some report facing issues with the Microsoft Launcher on Android.

One Reddit user shared that apps work normally on their personal profile, but crash on their work profile. For others, the apps crash regardless of the profile they use. The issue is difficult to describe as a specific issue. To add to the complexity, a Reddit user Shinnkuu, reported using Microsoft apps without any issue on the latest Android 16 beta .

Google’s claims of fixing the issue were specific to Microsoft Intune. Intune is Microsoft’s cloud infrastructure for managing enterprise-owned devices, like phones, tablets, and laptops. Maybe while fixing the issue for devices configured with Intune, the company overlooked the regular users with similar issues.

One user was able to fix the issue by enabling Android System WebView after it was previously disabled on their device. Google is aware of the issue, but has yet to give any updates on the Issue Tracker threads. This makes it more uncertain to know when the issue will be resolved.

The temporary solution to this, for now, is switching back to the stable version of Android 16. At least, it won’t result in any data loss.
