iPhone had big expectations for its first slim phone. With all the hype about it, the iPhone Air promised a better experience. The company wasn’t the only one to think this way. Following the iPhone Air debut, Samsung launched the ultra-slim Galaxy S25 Edge as a reply. Results have shown otherwise.

The iPhone Air hasn’t exactly been a success in terms of sales. A report from Nikkei Asia , confirmed by NotebookCheck , suggests that the orders for it have dropped to end of production levels. Investing shares the results from research done by KeyBanc Capital Markets on the phone. It reveals that there is no consumer demand for the iPhone Air. That shows how bad the situation is. With the way things turned out for the iPhone Air, there might not be another phone in the slim phone lineup.

Slim doesn’t equal better

There are a lot of drawbacks to the iPhone Air. It costs more than the base iPhone 17 and doesn’t even match its performance.

Compared to the iPhone 17 series which has two and three rear cameras, the iPhone Air just has one rear camera. Its slimness sacrifices battery life. The iPhones are not particularly your best bet when it comes to batteries, but the slim iPhone Air performs even worse than other standard iPhones.

Consumers don’t see why they should leave their thicker phones that serve them well for thinner ones that don’t offer equal or better performance. Then there’s also the fear of it snapping. Putting on a phone case only defeats the aim of its design. Using it without one risks getting snapped easily. Most consumers can’t get past that.

The mention of the trifold in Google’s app code with the 2025 date, suggests a launch later this year , which is within two months. With the question of when answered, the where remains unanswered. There are no details as to whether Samsung will launch the phone in the US, and if it does, when.
