Foldable phones are becoming more popular with companies like Samsung and Google at the frontline. Even Apple is set to join to the trend. Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold is one of the newest foldables, making its debut earlier this month.

Some users are sceptical about foldable phones. The fear of snapping in two, sitting on it by accident and things like that. Costing half as much extra as regular Pixel smartphones, one has to confirm just how durable it is. A popular YouTuber, JerryRigEverything, is known for carrying out durability tests on smartphones to see just how much they can withstand. In one of his latest videos, he tested the Pixel 10 Pro Fold, giving viewers a look of how strong the latest foldable is.
Foldable worst fears confirmed
Foldable phones have a delicate design. Even fingernails leave a dent on the Pixel 10 Pro Fold screen. The YouTuber reveals in his test that the hinge isn’t properly protected even with an IP68 rating. In the video, when he put sand on the hinge, it made its way into the groove, making a crackling sound as the phone was folded and unfolded. The YouTuber notes the Pixel 10 Pro Fold seems to be weak near its antenna lines just like its predecessors.
When pressure is applied in this area, the phone snaps easily. To lengthen the span, users should careful of the design flaw. On applying more pressure during the test, the phone battery experienced a short circuit and exploded. JerryRigEverything commented it was the first time he saw a Pixel foldable blow up that way. It further confirms that subjecting the foldable to extreme pressure can be dangerous.
The YouTuber notes that the tests are extreme and solely for the purpose of confirming design claims, and that phones will not be subject to such conditions under normal circumstances. Still, watching a $1,799 phone get broken that easily is a bit disheartening. For those who worry about their phones’ durability, it is advisable to buy an additional warranty to cover accidental damage just to be safe, without worrying about the durability of a device.

The HONOR Magic8 series has officially been announced. According to HONOR, it’s their first flagship smartphones to feature self-evolving AI. While only available in China at the moment, the global launch will happen later on.

All you have to do is provide the necessary details and the Yoyo Agent will automatically complete the given tasks. Users don’t have to worry about minor daily tasks anymore because Yoyo Agent can help out with them.
