Telegram users can now make video calls to their contacts owing to a new feature that has rolled out on the instant messaging platform. This feature, although in its early stages, may eventually see Telegram on a par with popular chat apps like WhatsApp.

As per a report from Android Police , the app is still a bit buggy but maintains the same features that other apps with video call support possess. It has an on-screen button to toggle between front and back cameras, mute, hang up, turn on/off video buttons.
As at the time of this report, there is no provision for group calls yet, but it is expected that a more refined version of this app could house this feature.
Telegram has offered support for voice calls for about four years, and with a video call option already in the works, it will be interesting to see how the final version of this app serves users.
